One person has been confirmed dead, and six others are hospitalized following a violent clash between miners and unidentified armed individuals at Nyinahin-Kasotie in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

According to Samuel Ayine, the Assembly Member for the Kyekyewere Electoral Area, the incident occurred on Monday, December 16, when a group of armed young men stormed a local mining site, demanding gold deposits and attempting to take control of operations.
The intruders allegedly tampered with the control board of an excavator and insisted on seizing gold, prompting the miners to call for help from community members.
The confrontation escalated into violence, with gunfire resulting in one fatality and several injuries. Enraged residents reportedly set fire to the pickup vehicles used by the intruders.
The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at the Mankranso Government Hospital, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue. Two suspects have been arrested and are in police custody at the Nyinahin Police Station as investigations continue.
Mr. Ayine noted that calm has been restored in the area following the incident.
“The police have arrested two people; the driver who drove them to the scene and another person who sustained cutlass injuries as a result of the attack. The injured person is all at the Mankraso Hospital,” he stated.
