The Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs has made a strong appeal for the government to reconsider the current revenue distribution from stool lands.

The traditional leaders argue that the existing 10 percent allocation to traditional authorities is insufficient and does not reflect the significant role they play in land stewardship.

During a meeting with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, the Chiefs voiced their dissatisfaction with the unchanging stance of successive governments on this matter.

They emphasised that despite numerous appeals, there has been no positive adjustment to the revenue share.

Highlighting the issue, Adansimanhene Opegya Kotwere Bonsrah Afiyie II and Mamponghene Dasebre Osei Bonsu II specifically sought Dr. Bawumia’s attention for prompt action.

They underscored the urgency of the situation and the need for the government to engage in a constructive dialogue with traditional authorities to find a mutually beneficial resolution.
