Ahead of his swearing-in as President on January 7, 2025, John Dramani Mahama has acknowledged the difficulty in assembling a team that is both trusted and competent.
During the 31st All Night Service at the Sanctuary of Wind and Fire Assemblies of God Church in Tamale, Mahama reflected on the importance of selecting the right individuals to ensure the country’s continued progress.

“I believe this election is a door that God has opened for us. It is for all of us to come together and move our country forward, so that Ghana can once again become the role model for democracy, economic management, and accountability in Africa,” Mahama stated.
“I have a huge task ahead of me, no man has yet invented a machine that can see into the minds of human beings or into their hearts. And yet, you have to choose a team to work with you. I pray that God gives us a sense of discernment so that we can choose a team that will work for this country. We need to be selfless so that we can gain back the trust of our people that democracy indeed works.”
He also shared his thoughts on the upcoming inauguration, stating that while he would be the focal point during the ceremony at the Independence Square, the event would be a moment of collective celebration for all Ghanaians.
“The 4th Republic has been the most enduring Republic in the history of Ghana. Because it has lasted the longest, 32 long years, and we’re going to go there again on 7th January 2025. And yet many of our young people believe that the country is not working for them. It’s not opening opportunities for them.
“And so, that day, we all go to Independence Square, while I might be at the centre of the attraction lifting that sword and sitting on that chair. It is all of us who are going to lift that sword and sit on that chair, and pray that our country, Ghana becomes great and strong.”
