Atmosphere shifts at Harris’s watch party amid U.S. election

As the first swing states are called for Donald Trump, the atmosphere at Howard University is beginning to change.

After hours of upbeat energy, with supporters dancing and singing to Usher, Kendrick Lamar, and Beyoncé, the mood at Harris’s election night watch party is starting to show signs of nervousness.

“I know there are a lot of concerns with the numbers right now,” said Howard student Jordan Newsom shortly after North Carolina was projected for Trump.

However, Newsom noted that his fellow supporters were doing their best to stay positive.

“The best we can do is unite and keep the faith among ourselves.”Republicans on the Brink of Taking the Senate.

Meanwhile, with incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown losing in Ohio, the Democratic Party’s chances of holding onto control of the Senate are fading fast.

The party has lost two seats, and with a third – Jon Tester in Montana – in jeopardy, the Senate could flip to Republicans unless the Democrats manage to secure a victory elsewhere.

At this point, there’s little hope for the Democrats in most races.

Florida and Texas, once seen as competitive, are no longer in play.Independent candidate Dan Osborne narrowly trails Republican incumbent Deb Fischer in Nebraska, with 69% of the vote reported.

Even if Osborne wins, it’s unclear whether he would align with Democrats in the Senate.

And if Donald Trump wins the presidency, with Vice President JD Vance casting a tie-breaking vote in the Senate, the Nebraska outcome would become irrelevant.

It’s shaping up to be a strong night for Republicans.
