Ato Forson urges Controller, GRA to exceed fiscal expectations

Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has urged the leadership of the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to work diligently towards not only meeting but exceeding fiscal and revenue targets.

In a meeting with key agencies under his supervision, Dr. Forson emphasized the importance of fiscal discipline in promoting national development. He called on officials to demonstrate excellence in their roles and contribute to building a legacy of financial stability for the country.

A key objective of Dr. Forson’s plan is to reduce Ghana’s inflation rate to single digits, aiming for a target of 8%, through effective fiscal policies, with a focus on controlling government expenditure.

Additionally, he has set a goal to increase tax revenue from 13.8% of GDP to around 16.8% as part of his fiscal reforms to eliminate the E-Levy and the betting tax..”

He highlighted the critical role of the GRA in achieving the nation’s economic goals and called for collaborative efforts to improve revenue collection and management practices.

The government has said, it is focused on enhancing public financial management and ensuring sustainable economic growth.
