Following the sudden adjournment of Parliament, Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has called for accountability from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging Ghanaians to vote them out in the upcoming December 7 elections.

The call comes after Speaker Alban Bagbin adjourned Parliament indefinitely on Thursday, November 7, due to the absence of NPP members, which prevented scheduled parliamentary proceedings from taking place. This adjournment occurred despite the NPP’s earlier request for the recall session.

Dr. Forson expressed serious concerns over the NPP MPs’ absence, suggesting it reflects disarray within the party that is obstructing essential legislative functions.

He further argued that their failure to participate in parliamentary sessions is not only delaying important discussions but also imposing significant financial burdens on the state.

Dr. Forson described the NPP MPs’ absence as a clear case of “willfully causing financial loss to the state” by neglecting their parliamentary duties.

He criticized their actions as a violation of parliamentary procedures and a sign of the NPP’s lack of commitment to governance.

Speaking to the Parliamentary Press Corps after the adjournment, he voiced frustration, calling the NPP’s behavior deeply troubling.

He emphasized that their actions underscore their inability to address critical national issues and urged Ghanaians to hold them accountable at the polls.

“I am deeply concerned by this situation. This is an abuse of the Standing Orders of the House and amounts to causing financial loss to the state. We call on Ghanaians to punish them accordingly,” Dr. Forson said.

He also highlighted the NPP’s failure to present viable solutions for the country’s problems, accusing them of focusing on campaign theatrics instead of meaningful governance.

“Let no one deceive you into thinking the NDC is here to disrupt government business. There is simply no business. We are fed up, and we are just waiting for the elections to vote out this incompetent government,” he concluded.
