The bail application for 20 additional protesters from the Democracy Hub has encountered difficulties.

On the morning of Tuesday, October 8, the protesters’ lawyers submitted a motion for bail for the following individuals:

  • Kingsley Asiedu
  • Seth Coffie
  • Vera Gloria Louis
  • Nii Quaye Hammond
  • Dela Quarshie
  • Manuel Barser Biney
  • Dorsese Joseph
  • Agbevi Mathias
  • Ernest Acheampong
  • Dorcas Sharifa
  • Emmanuel Attah
  • Alhassan Hudu
  • Grace Asantewaa
  • Raymsa Godwin Jones
  • Isaac Agyapong
  • Shadrach Amoah
  • Otieku Alex
  • Raymond Sefa Boakye
  • Kallian Kofi Komashie
  • Daniel Adjei

However, the prosecuting attorneys indicated they had filed affidavits opposing the bail. Justice Arma-Tetteh reprimanded the State Attorneys for their absence during the earlier bail application for 13 protesters, which was presented in his court.

The State Attorneys claimed they were unaware of the bail application, which is why they attended the proceedings in Criminal Court 4.

The presiding judge instructed the prosecution to serve the relevant documents to the protesters’ lawyers, as they had not yet received the necessary documentation.

The case has been adjourned until Wednesday, October 9, at which time both the remanded protesters and those on bail will have their cases heard in the Accra Circuit Court.
