A group of family and friends of Awudu Ishaq, the National Communications Officer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), have collected nomination forms at the party headquarters in Accra with his consent. Ishaq is seeking to be elected as the party’s General Secretary.

Nominations for various positions were opened on Monday, August 12. In a statement on Tuesday, August 13, Ishaq expressed his gratitude, saying, “I feel privileged and honored to have a battalion that believes in my capacity and competence to serve the PNC as General Secretary.”

Awudu Ishaq has previously served the People’s National Convention (PNC) as Deputy Constituency Secretary in the Wa Central Constituency, and as Upper West Regional Secretary.

He also held the position of National Youth Organiser before his current role as National Communications Officer.

“It is never in doubt that my commitment and sacrifice for the party have shone and glowed brightly especially within the party.

“This is not a one-day dream, it is project I have nurtured and toiled for since I joined the PNC in 2002 working myself through the ranks and dedicating my time, energy and resources to seeing the party grow and manifest its lofty ideas and ideals as a pioneer of Ghana’s elections since 1992.

“The party has defied very turbulent odds and weathered forceful storms to remain standing because of our sacrifice and hard work.”
The party will be going to Congress on Saturday, August 31 to elect national executives and the 2024 flagbearer.

For Ishaq Awudu, the party currently needs “tried, tested and proven brains to lead its charge ahead of the 2024 elections considering the bitter factionalism that held it back for the past three years”.

“I am never in doubt that I have what it takes to steer the affairs of the party successfully to meet the expectations and aspirations of the grassroots of the party, most of who have kept faith with me whenever I put myself up for elections in the party. And this one shall not be any different by divine grace.”

On behalf of his supporters, he committed to a decent and decorous campaign.

“We shall abide by the guidelines issued by the party in conducting our campaign, believing that victory is twice assured on 31st August, 2024.”
