Kingsley Amoakwa Boadu, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Legal Team Directorate, has minimized the importance of ballot position in election outcomes.

He stated that it’s the achievements and track record of a political party that truly influence voter decisions, rather than where they appear on the ballot.

In an interview on The Big Issue on Channel One TV, Boadu noted that while ballot positions can aid in marketing, they are not critical for winning elections.

“The position on the ballot paper is irrelevant; it’s your accomplishments that will earn you votes. Anything regarding being number one or number eight is primarily for marketing purposes,” he explained.

He acknowledged that being first on the ballot might make it easier to market a candidate in both parliamentary and presidential elections.

However, he pointed out that the NDC’s eighth position, combined with the presence of independent candidates in some areas, creates a different situation.

Boadu expressed that the NDC should not view their ballot position as a disadvantage.

“While marketing number one is easier, the NDC’s number eight, especially where independent candidates are not running for parliamentary positions, changes the landscape.

They can be creative in directing their supporters to vote for their candidates. It’s really not a significant issue,” he concluded.
