The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Prestea Huni-Valley Constituency has condemned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for spreading malicious and damaging publications about their Parliamentary Candidate, Lawyer Barbara Oteng Gyasi.

The NPP finds it troubling that the NDC is sanctioning and spearheading this misinformation, which is contrary to the principles of fair and honest political discourse.

The NPP has reminded constituents of the NDC’s history of malicious propaganda and mischief, which has hindered the development of the constituency.

In 2020, the NDC engaged in similar tactics against Lawyer Barbara Oteng Gyasi, which brought the constituency’s progress to a standstill.

The NPP has set the record straight, stating that Barbara Oteng Gyasi never physically or verbally assaulted anyone, contrary to the NDC’s claims.

She had simply advised an individual to desist from propagating false allegations about her involvement in galamsey (illegal mining) on radio stations, failing which she would take legal action to prove his allegations.

The NPP has also debunked allegations that Barbara Oteng Gyasi is engaged in illegal mining in Prestea Huni-Valley or any other part of the country.

They find it disingenuous that the NDC, who previously tagged her as “anti-galamsey” and entreated constituents to vote against her for that reason, is now accusing her of being involved in illegal mining.

The NPP has appealed to all stakeholders, including traditional leaders, religious leaders, identifiable groups, and women’s groups, to stand against the NDC’s attempts to damage Barbara Oteng Gyasi’s reputation.

They warn that if the NDC continues with this propaganda, the NPP will respond in equal measure, and the consequences will be severe.
