The Zug-Raan Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, the Overlord of the Kusaug Traditional Area, has extended warm congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama on behalf of the Chiefs and People of Kusaug following his victory in the December 7, 2024 General Elections.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the Overlord of Kusaug, David Adoliba, the Bawku Naba commended Mahama’s overwhelming endorsement by Ghanaians, calling it a testament to his leadership abilities and the positive impact of his previous presidency.

“Your massive endorsement by Ghanaians to take over the reins of government of our beloved country once again is a testament to your sterling qualities and good work during your previous tenure as President of this country,” the statement read.

The Chiefs and People of Kusaug expressed optimism for the future with Mahama’s re-election, especially recalling the peace enjoyed in the region during his earlier leadership.

However, the Bawku Naba also acknowledged the recent disruptions to peace caused by ongoing conflicts that have tragically led to loss of lives.

The Zug-Raan expressed confidence that Mahama’s return to office would restore peace to Kusaug and reaffirmed their support for his leadership.

“Congratulations once again, and may the Almighty God grant you the strength and wisdom to successfully carry out your mandate,” the message concluded.

The Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Jean Mensa, officially declared the results on December 9, 2024, confirming John Dramani Mahama as the winner with 6,328,397 votes, or 56.55% of the total vote. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia followed in second place with 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61% of the votes cast.
