Residents of Bawku have been urged to adhere to directives and fully cooperate with security agencies to restore peace and normalcy in the region.
In response to recent violence over the weekend, the Ministry of the Interior has imposed a curfew on Bawku, following an emergency national security meeting held on Monday, October 28.

The curfew will be in effect from 6 PM to 6 AM, starting from that date.
A statement from the Interior Ministry noted that the return of Mr. Seidu Abagre, who was controversially enskinned as Bawku Naba in February 2023, has led to significant disturbances following the Court of Appeal’s decision to vacate his arrest warrant.
These disturbances have unfortunately resulted in loss of life and raised concerns about escalating violence beyond Bawku.
According to assessments by national security agencies, Mr. Seidu Abagre’s presence in Bawku represents a substantial threat to public safety.
Consequently, under the Public Order Act of 1994, the government has imposed a curfew from 6 PM to 6 AM, effective immediately.
The government has emphasized its commitment to taking necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of Bawku and surrounding areas.
Security forces have been directed to enforce the curfew strictly and maintain law and order.
Residents are urged to comply with this directive and fully cooperate with security agencies to restore peace. Violations of the curfew will result in legal consequences.
