Three people, including a schoolgirl, have tragically been killed in Bawku following a gunfight on Friday, November 29, 2024, bringing the death toll in the area to 32. This follows another fatality just two days earlier.

The violence erupted in the Gingande-Zongo area, where gunfire raged from midnight until 1 PM. Reports indicate that several houses were also set ablaze during the conflict.
Along with the fatalities, numerous others have sustained gunshot wounds of varying severity.
The violence, which reignited in late October 2024, has resulted in frequent shootings, especially during curfew hours. The situation remains volatile, with residents and security forces struggling to control the unrest in the region.
The renewed clashes are believed to have intensified following the return of rival chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre from exile, compounded by recent ambushes targeting travelers, which have further heightened tensions.
