Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for widespread adoption of digital initiatives in the health sector, underscoring the significant benefits of technology in improving healthcare access for Ghanaians.

Speaking at the commissioning of the E-Pharmacy and Telehealth services in Ejisu, Ashanti Region, on Monday, November 11, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the Telehealth initiative would enhance virtual healthcare delivery across the country.
He noted that the program would allow individuals to access consultations, diagnoses, prescriptions, and specialist care remotely.
Highlighting the potential impact, Dr. Bawumia explained that the service would not only reduce the time and financial costs of seeking healthcare but also provide access to international telehealth services, extending far beyond Ghana’s borders.
He described the Telehealth initiative as a game-changer in healthcare, with the ability to streamline access to vital services and offer specialized care from around the world.
“The Telehealth initiative will enhance remote access to health services. With access to your vitals and records, diagnosis, prescriptions, and specialist care can be rendered.
The initiative will save time, money, and resources, while offering international telehealth services that are not limited to Ghana,” he said.
During his visit to four constituencies in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Bawumia first stopped at Bekwai, where the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu, is not seeking re-election.
Despite a challenge from an independent candidate who had secured over 22,000 votes in 2020, Dr. Bawumia urged supporters to focus on the NPP’s agenda and disregard the independent candidate’s campaign.
Next, Dr. Bawumia visited the Bosomtwe constituency, where Education Minister Yaw Osei Adutwum is seeking re-election.
He acknowledged the important role Bosomtwe has played in the party’s success and promised continued accountability if the NPP is re-elected.
The tour continued in Ejisu, where Dr. Bawumia observed a moment of silence in honor of the late MP John Kumah.
He concluded his visit in the Asokwa constituency, meeting with local supporters to rally support for the NPP ahead of the December elections.
