The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has criticized the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, calling him the worst-performing president in the history of Ghana’s 4th Republic.

Dr. Bawumia attributed this criticism to Mahama’s poor track record in key areas such as job creation, industrialization, and the development of road and health infrastructure.
He highlighted that during Mahama’s tenure, the country faced numerous challenges, including a lack of significant progress in these critical sectors, which he claimed led to hardships for many Ghanaians.
Bawumia made these remarks while addressing a large crowd of party supporters at Manso Adubia in the Ashanti Region on Friday, November 8, 2024.
In his speech, he emphasized that the NPP administration, under President Akufo-Addo, has made significant strides in improving the country’s infrastructure, boosting job creation, and advancing industrialization compared to the previous government’s performance.
The NPP flagbearer’s comments come as part of his ongoing campaign efforts to contrast the current government’s achievements with the record of Mahama’s presidency, ahead of the 2024 elections.
“You know this contest is between myself and former President John Mahama, he has been a Presidnet before. Isn’t it? What projects did Mahama do in Manso Adubia during his tenure as a President? Did he even construct a one kilometer tarred road fro you? He offered nothing, is that not so? If you check our data of presidents in the 4th Republic, the former president Mahama has been the worst performing president on the economy.
“If you check the data, it’s clear, GDP growth, he’s the worst, agric growth he’s the worst. Job creation he’s the worst. We have done better than him, in roads, in schools, jobs, hospitals, railway, sanitation facilities, fish landing sites, libraries, courts. All of it, you look at crops, whatever matters, we have done better than him.”
