Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has committed to establishing community mining schemes for the residents of Obuasi West if elected into office.

This initiative aims to enable responsible mining in the Obuasi area, a community known for its rich mining heritage.

Speaking to party supporters in Obuasi West on November 12, Dr. Bawumia shared, “We’re introducing community mining schemes to utilize areas not being mined by foreign companies.

We’ll work with the Geological Survey Authority to identify mineral-rich locations and launch community mining there.”

He also announced plans for a new Minerals Development Bank to help miners access equipment for safer and more profitable operations. “With responsible mining practices, this initiative will create wealth, enabling you to achieve financial prosperity,” he added.

In related comments, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the NPP’s achievements, emphasizing job creation and industrial growth under the current administration, contrasting it with the NDC’s performance.

“Notwithstanding COVID and other crisis, every sector of the economy we have performed better than the NDC. We have created more jobs, we have built more roads, more railway, more airports, more schools, more hospitals, more libraries, more sanitation facilities, more jobs, more industry. More factories, more zongo development, all of that. Every sector of the economy, we have done more than the NDC,” Dr Bawumia assured..
