The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has outlined a detailed plan to tackle chieftaincy disputes across the country if elected president in the upcoming elections.

During a campaign stop in the Twifo Atti Morkwa constituency of the Central Region, Dr. Bawumia noted that many of these disputes are rooted in succession issues.

To address this, his administration would work closely with the Judicial Council and the National House of Chiefs to establish clear and codified lines of succession for all chiefs nationwide.

He stressed that this initiative would not only help resolve conflicts but also strengthen the productivity of the chieftaincy institution, fostering national unity and development.

“There a lot of disputes as far as chieftaincy is concerned and it disturbs peace. So, we have to work together with the judicial council and the National House of Chiefs to codify all the lines of succession to all the stools in Ghana and we will digitalise all of them.

“This will help everybody to know the next person in line to rule as chief. This will reduce the number of chieftency-related disputes ” he stated.
