Bawumia pushes for digitalization in transport sector

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called on transport owners to support the government’s digitalization agenda, which aims to revolutionize the transport sector.

He emphasized the need for collaboration to accelerate digital transformation and enhance efficiency.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted various digital initiatives introduced in the transport sector, including streamlined processes for driver’s license acquisition, vehicle registration, and insurance renewal.

He also announced plans to establish charging stations for electric vehicles across the country, with 100 electronic buses expected to arrive by the end of the year.

The Vice President challenged the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and other transport operators to work together to harness the benefits of digitalization.

He emphasized the potential for digitalization to make the sector more efficient and cost-effective.

Through his Facebook page, Dr. Bawumia shared his vision for a transformed transport sector, driven by digital innovation.

He believes that by working together, they can improve services for all Ghanaians.

The meeting with the GPRTU leadership and members on Thursday, July 4, demonstrated the government’s commitment to engaging with stakeholders to drive digital transformation in the transport sector.
