Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reiterated his stance against the acceptance of homosexual activities in Ghana.

During his campaign tour in the Savannah and Northern Regions, he emphasized that LGBT+ activities would not be tolerated if he becomes president, citing the country’s religious and cultural values.

Dr. Bawumia stressed that Ghana’s major religions, including Christianity and Islam, condemn such activities, and the society at large also rejects them.

He made it clear that he would never allow LGBT+ activities to occur in Ghana, reiterating his strong opposition to the practice of homosexuality.

This stance is consistent with his previous comments in April 2024, when he stated that his faith as a Muslim and Ghana’s social norms are against the practice of homosexuality.

He emphasized that he cannot support something that his religion and all major religions in Ghana clearly forbid.
