Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 general election, has embarked on a pilgrimage to Mecca, the holiest city in Islam.

Dr. Bawumia explained that the trip is a gesture of gratitude to Allah and an opportunity to pray for the protection and guidance of Ghana.

The pilgrimage, known as Hajj, is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and is a religious duty for Muslims who are physically and financially able to undertake the journey at least once in their lifetime.

Dr. Bawumia was accompanied by his wife, Samira Bawumia, former Minister of Finance Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, former Minister for Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif, and Member of Parliament for Tolon, Habib Iddrisu.

Muslims around the world perform the pilgrimage as a demonstration of their faith and obedience to Allah.
