In an enthusiastic campaign address, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urged voters in Asunafo South to move away from the prevalent practice of “skirt-and-blouse” voting.
He encouraged constituents to adopt a cohesive strategy by voting for the NPP in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.

Although the NPP has consistently performed well in presidential elections within the constituency, they have struggled to secure the parliamentary seat, currently held by Eric Opoku of the NDC.
During a recent gathering with stakeholders in Sankore, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the significance of supporting the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Francis Adusei Opoku, emphasizing that he would be a vital member of his administration if elected.
“Vote for me because I will enhance your lives. Everyone knows that in Asunafo South, you consistently vote for the NPP in the presidential election but not in the parliamentary one.
I urge you to change that in 2024 stop the skirt-and-blouse voting and vote straight for us in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.”
Dr. Bawumia further appealed to the residents of Sankore, asking them to support the party this election year.
“I want the people of Sankore to start changing this trend and vote for Adusei so I can include him in my next government. Don’t let us down this year; we are both number 1.”
As part of his campaign tour in the Ahafo region, Dr. Bawumia plans to visit three constituencies Asunafo South, Asunafo North, and Asutifi South on Thursday.
His schedule includes meetings with local chiefs, business leaders, and party supporters to share his vision and gather backing for the upcoming elections.
Ahead of his visit, some residents of Norbekoi in the Asunafo South constituency have publicly affirmed their commitment to the NPP, pledging to continue their support for the party.
