Bernard Mornah, the disqualified presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has initiated a lawsuit against the Electoral Commission (EC) following his exclusion from the 2024 Presidential Race.

Mornah, along with 10 other candidates, was disqualified due to issues with their nomination forms.

In a suit filed at the High Court, Mornah is requesting that the court compel the Electoral Commission to allow him to participate in the presidential elections.

He is seeking a declaration that the EC’s failure to provide specific reasons for his disqualification or to grant him a hearing is a violation of his fundamental human rights.

Furthermore, he is requesting an order to prevent the EC from printing presidential ballot papers or proceeding with the 2024 general elections until his nomination is reinstated.

“An order of mandamus compelling the 2nd Respondent to declare the 1st Applicant as duly nominated to contest the 2024 Public Presidential Elections.

“An order restraining the 1st and 2nd Respondents from printing the Presidential Ballot Papers or carrying on with December 7, 2024, Public Presidential Elections until the 1st Applicant is declared as the duly nominated candidate of the 2nd Applicant, and allowed to contest the said elections.”
