The Bimbilla Magistrate Court in the Northern Region has remanded two individuals suspected of involvement in the killing of cattle and the destruction of properties belonging to the Fulbe community.

The suspects have been placed in police custody as investigations continue, with their next court appearance scheduled for March 26, 2025.

They face charges including unlawful possession of firearms, in violation of Section 11 of the Arms and Ammunition Act, 1972 (NRCD), and animal cruelty, as stated in Section 303(1)(a) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

Legal representatives for the suspects requested bail, but the presiding judge denied the plea, citing the seriousness of the case.

The judge also encouraged law enforcement agencies to expedite their work to ensure the matter is resolved swiftly.

In response to the court’s ruling, members of the Fulbe community expressed their approval. Mohammed Yahaya, a spokesperson for the Fulbes, shared with Channel One News that, in addition to the current case, a man named Alhaji had also been killed.

Yahaya revealed that the body is currently at the Salaga hospital morgue and mentioned that over 400 cattle are still unaccounted for following the incident.
