The teenage son of Bishop Salifu Amoako has been sentenced to six months at the Senior Correctional Center for manslaughter following a tragic accident in East Legon that claimed the lives of two people.

The teen, who collided with another vehicle, causing the deaths of two passengers, was initially charged with manslaughter, negligently causing harm, dangerous driving, and driving without a license.

Though he initially pleaded not guilty, he later changed his plea to guilty, leading to his conviction.

As part of the sentence, the court ordered the teenager to report to probation officers every two weeks. He has also been directed to sign an undertaking to refrain from driving until he turns 18.

In a separate ruling, the teen’s parents were fined 500 penalty units each (equivalent to GHc 6,000) for their failure to properly supervise their son.

They were also instructed to pay for the damages caused in the accident, including a light pole valued at GHc 8,000.
