Ghana’s triumph over Mali in the 2024 FIFA World Cup qualifiers can be attributed to two crucial factors, according to Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.

Addo credited his strategic substitutions for turning the tide of the game, ultimately securing the win.

Additionally, he acknowledged the role of luck in their victory, noting that the team capitalized on their chances to earn a well-deserved result.

Addo also showed admiration for Mali’s skillful team, expressing his disapproval of the fans’ booing after the defeat.

“The booing was unfair, considering Mali’s impressive performance,” he said in his post-match interview. “Our substitutions made all the difference, and although we were lucky to score, our win was well-deserved.”

This comeback victory, fueled by Ernest Nuamah and Jordan Ayew’s goals, marks Ghana’s first win under Otto Addo’s second spell.

The win propels Ghana to second place in the group, tied with Comoros at 6 points, while Mali follows closely with 4 points.

The Central African Republic, Madagascar, and Chad trail behind with 4, 3, and 0 points, respectively.
