On Friday, August 1, the Bogoso Blue Water Guards arrested an illegal small-scale miner at Dawurapong in the Prestea-Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region, following a brief struggle. The suspect was subsequently handed over to the police.

Speaking to Channel One News, the leader of the Bogoso Blue Water Guards, Allan Acheampong, disclosed that the team also destroyed and confiscated several pumping machines used in the illegal mining operation.

According to him, the team encountered about eight illegal miners actively operating in the tributaries of River Mansi near Dawurapong. However, only one suspect was apprehended, as the others managed to escape.
