Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation Limited (BOST) has donated over 11,000 exercise books and supplementary reading materials to six basic schools in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region. Among the beneficiary schools are Atimpoku RC Basic School and Atimpoku L/A Junior High School.

This donation is part of BOST’s nationwide educational support program, which aims to provide learning materials to communities affected by its operations, with a total of 100,000 items planned for distribution.

BOST’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager, Mr. Yaw Antwi Dadzie, shared that the initiative ensures schools in surrounding communities have the necessary resources to enhance education. So far, over 80,000 materials have been distributed in areas such as Kumasi, Savelugu, Buipe, Debre, and Bolga.

This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 4, which focuses on promoting equitable and quality education. Mr. Dadzie highlighted that a needs-based assessment conducted two years ago led to this decision to provide learning materials to the schools.

In addition to the educational support, BOST has also offered GH₵1.5 million in scholarships to 50 students at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), covering tuition, laptops, stipends, and other expenses.

BOST further emphasizes environmental sustainability through initiatives like tree planting to reduce its carbon footprint.

In a brief remark after the donation, head teachers of the beneficiary schools observed that teaching and learning go with assessment but said a key challenge among schools in the catchment area is that some of the pupils lack exercise books.

Speaking on the impact of the donation, the headteacher of Atimpoku D/A JHS said, “This donation will help us a lot because we have 237 students, and some of them don’t come to school because they don’t have exercise books to do assignments, and it is always difficult to know their improvements.”
