As the Black Stars prepare to face Mali in their World Cup qualifier, a controversy is brewing around the team’s bodyguard, Aziz.

Bright Kankam Boadu, a sports pundit on Kumasi-based Pure FM, has criticized Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku for failing to rein in Aziz, who has a history of harassing and physically abusing people trying to get close to the players.

Kankam Boadu believes Aziz’s presence is a result of Okraku’s personal relationship with him, rather than a decision by the GFA.

While acknowledging Okraku’s tolerance for opposing views, Kankam Boadu is disappointed in his failure to address Aziz’s behavior, which he sees as a significant blot on Okraku’s reputation.

A viral video showed Aziz trying to harass journalists and fans seeking photos with coach Otto Addo and players during a recent training session in Accra.

Kankam Boadu describes Aziz as “daft” and lacking in tact and discernment, citing a similar incident in the US where police were called.

He questions why Aziz remains in his role, given his history of misconduct.

The issue has sparked debate ahead of today’s crucial match, with Ghana seeking to climb the Group I standings.

The Black Stars currently sit fifth with three points from two matches.
