Bunkpurugu: Joint security team takes over Ngama Gberuk following interclan conflict

Security has been heightened in Ngama Gberuk, a community in the Bunkpurugu District of the North East Region, following a violent clash that resulted in injuries and extensive property damage.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, January 26, involved two clans returning from a chieftaincy enskinment when they were ambushed by unknown gunmen who reportedly opened fire on them.

According to local journalist Sunday Batowani, residents have fled their homes and are now hesitant to return due to safety concerns. The authorities have since intensified security efforts to restore order and ensure the safety of the community.

“Gunmen from a hilltop and then a nearby river started shooting at them. So the two chiefs fled off and in fact, a woman was killed.
