The Chief of Defense Staff, Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, and the Military Secretary are set to testify later this week in the ongoing ambulance trial.

They will address documents presented by the prosecution indicating that Richard Jakpa was discharged from the military in 2007 due to unsatisfactory performance and failure to pass promotional exams.

Richard Jakpa’s legal team argues that these documents are an attempt to discredit their client, who testified in defense of Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in the criminal trial.

As a result, subpoenas have been issued to compel the attendance of the military officials.

Dr. Ato Forson, Richard Jakpa, and the Chief of the Ministry of Health are facing charges of allegedly causing a €2.37 million financial loss to the state through a contract for 200 ambulances, described in court documents as ordinary buses lacking necessary ambulance equipment.
