The Office of the Special Prosecutor has submitted its application for confirmation of an order to freeze the bank accounts of Cecilia Dapaah and seize approximately $590,000 and GHC 2,730,000 discovered at her residence in Abelemkpe.

However, Isidore Tuffour, the representative of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, has acknowledged that Cecilia Dapaah’s husband has also been arrested.

Reportedly, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has arrested Daniel Osei Kuffour, the spouse of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah, in the ongoing investigation into corruption and related offenses. This comes after allegations of monies being stolen from their home.

Isidore Tuffour argued that the order is consistent with the provisions of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act (959), designed to prevent the concealment of properties believed to be linked to corruption. He contended that the office suspects that the discovered funds are ill-gotten through corruption.

Lawyers representing the former Minister, led by Victoria Barth, contended that the application for confirmation was filed in violation of the procedures outlined in the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act.

Victoria Barth argued that Section 32(2) of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act 959 mandates the office to submit the application for confirmation within seven days of seizure.

Furthermore, her legal team asserted that the mere fact of their client being under investigation for corruption is insufficient grounds for freezing her accounts.
