Chamber of Technology extends congratulations to President-Elect Mahama

Representatives from the Chamber of Technology visited President-elect John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, to congratulate him on his victory and express the industry’s readiness to collaborate with his incoming administration.

They emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to achieve Ghana’s economic and social objectives while empowering local tech firms to lead this transformation.

Speaking on behalf of the Chamber, Owusu-Nhyira praised Mahama’s historical support for the technology sector, citing key initiatives such as the National Communications Authority Headquarters, Ghana’s rural fiber network, the Accra Digital Centre, and e-transformation projects like e-Justice, e-Health, and the e-payment gateway.

These efforts, he noted, have laid a strong foundation for the country’s digital transformation, demonstrating Mahama’s commitment to using technology for national development.

Owusu-Nhyira also highlighted the Chamber’s enthusiasm for the technology-related proposals in Mahama’s manifesto, including a $50 million FinTech fund to support innovation and scaling FinTech businesses. He recommended establishing a merit-based private equity fund to support technology firms and other initiatives to strengthen the sector.

In closing, Owusu-Nhyira reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to working with the new government to enhance regulations and processes that promote inclusive development and bridge the technological gender gap.
