The Ghana Charismatic Bishops’ Conference has urged Ghanaians to prioritize peace and unity as the nation prepares for the December 7 general elections.

In a recent communiqué, the bishops emphasized the importance of a peaceful electoral process and the need to respect the outcome of the polls.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has been under significant scrutiny, particularly from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which is demanding a forensic audit of the voters’ register due to alleged discrepancies.

This situation has led to multiple meetings between the NDC and the EC, alongside a nationwide demonstration. On Tuesday, October 17, the NDC formally submitted a petition requesting the audit following their protest.

In their statement, the bishops highlighted the necessity of upholding Ghana’s democratic values and expressed hope that the country would continue to serve as a beacon of democracy for the rest of Africa in the aftermath of the elections.

“Finally, the Ghana Charismatic Bishop’s Conference prays for Ghana to have a peaceful election in 2024. We pray that the whole nation will peacefully accept and agree with the outcome of the upcoming elections and be a shining example of peaceful democracy to all other nations.

“O God Make Ghana a great a peaceful and a famously democratic nation! The charismatic bishops conference is committed to praying for the peace and prosperity of Ghana according to the scriptures. May God bless Ghana forevermore!”
