Ghana Premier League legend Charles Taylor has expressed his disapproval of Andre Dede Ayew’s exclusion from Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Taylor believes that Ayew’s impressive form and leadership as team captain warrant his inclusion in the squad.

He argued that if current form is the primary criterion for selection, then Ayew should not have been left out.

Taylor pointed out that Ayew was included in the AFCON squad while he was not playing, and now that he is in top form, he deserves respect and a place in the team.

“Ayew’s exclusion is disrespectful. If form is the only metric, then he should be in the squad. He’s the captain and deserves respect. Otto Addo wasn’t fair to him,” Taylor said in an interview with Angel TV.

Ayew had a remarkable season, finishing as Le Havre’s top scorer in French Ligue 1 with five goals, helping his team avoid relegation.
