Chef Ebenezer Smith apologized to Ghanaians for fabricating his Guinness World Records (GWR) certificate during a press conference on July 2, 2024.

He claimed to have set a record for the longest individual cooking session, which he purportedly conducted from February to March 2024.

Following controversies and doubts, TV3 sought clarification from Guinness World Records regarding Chef Smith’s certificate.

In response, Guinness World Records confirmed that the current record holder for the longest individual cooking session remains Alan Fisher from Ireland.

Days later, in an upcoming interview with Accra-based channel GH One TV, Chef Smith claimed that hunger drove him to falsify his Guinness World Records certificate.

He expressed deep regret for his actions and pleaded for forgiveness from Ghanaians, stating, “I apologize to the world. I am so sorry. I don’t deserve to live, but my hunger caused my actions and led me down this path.”

“I am sorry to the entire nation,” a remorseful Chef Smith said while wailing uncontrollably.
