Chief Fire Officer Julius A. Kuunor and members of the Ghana National Fire Service Council will visit the seven accident victims admitted at St. Dominic Catholic Hospital in Akwatia and Kade Government Hospital this morning, July 22.

The seven firefighters, stationed at the Kade Fire Department, were involved in an accident at Adankrono while en route to address another incident involving a fuel tanker at Otwenkwanta. Their fire engine somersaulted several times, leading to their injuries.

Eastern Regional Fire Commander, ACFO Jennifer Naa Yarley Quaye, promptly visited both hospitals on behalf of the service’s management to ensure the firefighters received the best treatment and to reassure their families about their condition.

The Chief Fire Officer will lead a high-powered delegation, including council members, to visit the victims who are scheduled for X-rays and head CT scans.

Citi News also confirms that the Kade Fire Engine (registration number FS 438), which was involved in the accident, is the only fire engine serving the Kwaebibirim Municipality (Kade), Denkyembour District (Akwatia), and Lower West Akim Municipality (Asamankese). Consequently, these three districts are currently without a fire engine, and in the event of any fire emergencies, residents and business owners will need to rely on tenders from Suhum, Akim Oda, or Nsawam.
