A total of 56 cholera cases have been reported since the outbreak in the Kasoa area, which initially saw about five cases last week.
Currently, 46 patients are hospitalized and responding to treatment, while the death toll remains at five as reported last week.

Of the cases, 15 are from Kasoa residents, while the others originate from neighboring districts, including Gomoa East and Ga South.
Following a visit to the Kasoa region for a stakeholders’ meeting, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye, the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, announced that the service has implemented a plan to ensure effective treatment and reduce the spread, particularly within healthcare facilities.
He also indicated that the situation has improved in the Ada area, where the outbreak initially began.
In addition, he urged all regional health departments to remain vigilant and establish preventive measures against further spread, while encouraging the public to maintain high standards of hygiene and sanitation.
“The teams have established the centres. We are ensuring that their surveillance is available. We are looking at people who have possible cases and test them as quickly as possible. We are also providing a lot of education to the communities, the health workers and even the patients who come here with their families so that we don’t continue with the spread.
“… Since they started, we have been informed that the severity of the cases that are coming is reducing and we hope that this will go on and within the next few weeks, we should bring this under control. But it will all depend on the kind of information that we give and how people will respond on time,” he stated.
