Climate Action; Ghana’s Lands Minister Calls on developed countries to honor promises

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has stressed ‘’the need for developed countries to step up and honor their climate promises.’

The Minister whiles speaking at the  Bloomberg New Economy Africa Conference, held at Marrakech, Morocco, made the point that ‘developed countries, which have historically been, and continue to be, the major emitters of greenhouse gases, to step up and honor their climate promises.

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources also took the opportunity to reiterate Ghana’s position to stop exporting green minerals such as lithium in their raw state, as the nation seeks to increase the benefits driven from its green minerals.

‘’We must benefit from the 7 trillion US Dollars value of the full industry rather than the 11 billion US Dollars for the mere mining of these minerals’’, he stated.
