The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has decided to suspend its strike action following an emergency meeting held by the National Executive Council (NEC) on March 28, 2025.

In a statement from the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, Isaac Bampoe Addo, the suspension will allow continued negotiations to resolve the ongoing issue. CLOGSAG has called on staff of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service to return to work on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
The nationwide strike, which began on February 20, was triggered by the appointment of the current Births and Deaths Registrar.
The group called for the appointment of a civil servant to the position, protesting against the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway over his alleged affiliation with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The association argued that the appointment of a politically affiliated individual compromised the neutrality of the civil service and undermined professionalism within the public sector.
