Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, commended the government’s unprecedented support for cocoa farmers.

He noted a remarkable rise in the price of cocoa bags during the NPP administration, increasing from GH¢475 to GH¢3,000, which he believes is crucial for enhancing the livelihoods of these farmers.

During a stakeholder engagement in the Wassa East constituency, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that this surge in cocoa prices reflects the NPP government’s dedication to the agricultural sector, especially cocoa farming, which is vital to Ghana’s economy.

“Chiefs, if you consider our achievements in the agricultural sector, the evidence is clear. Cocoa farmers can attest to it.

“Today, the price of a bag of cocoa has reached GH¢3,000. This is unprecedented. When we took office, it was GH¢475. What we’ve accomplished is unmatched,” he asserted.

The NPP flagbearer reiterated the party’s commitment to farmer welfare, stating that the price increase is a direct outcome of their policies designed to uplift the agricultural sector and improve the lives of those who rely on it.
