MP Collins Adomako-Mensah of Afigya Kwabre North Constituency has dropped a hint that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP Flagbearer, has chosen Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate.
This revelation came during an interview with Angel FM, where Adomako-Mensah stated that Prempeh, a native of Manhyia in the Ashanti region, fits the bill as the ideal running mate.
He emphasized that Prempeh is a true son of Ashanti, and his selection should satisfy the demands of those who wanted a running mate from the region.
Adomako-Mensah also addressed concerns about Prempeh’s perceived arrogance, describing him as a kind and generous person who is often misunderstood.
He likened Prempeh to a Rolls-Royce, implying that he is a high-quality individual with exceptional qualities.
The selection of a running mate for Bawumia has been a subject of interest, with three cabinet ministers and MPs emerging as potential candidates.
All three – Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong – are highly qualified and bear the title Doctor (Dr).
The announcement of the running mate is expected in June, as revealed by President Akufo-Addo on May 21, 2024.
