Conor Gallagher is back in London as his move to Atlético Madrid faces uncertainty.

The 24-year-old England international is set to return to training at Chelsea’s Cobham facility on Wednesday after complications with his transfer to the La Liga club.
Gallagher had spent the past week in Madrid, including five days in the city and a visit to Atlético’s Metropolitano Stadium. However, his £33 million transfer is now on hold due to complications.
The main issue is that Chelsea’s £34.5 million deal for Spanish striker Samu Omorodion fell through on Sunday over personal terms.
This has disrupted Atlético Madrid’s financial plans, as they need to sell a significant asset to finance Gallagher’s move.
Atlético Madrid recently signed Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez for £81.5 million, increasing their need to sell a major asset to balance their finances. While Gallagher’s transfer is still a possibility, it is at risk.
Chelsea might consider an alternative deal involving Joao Felix, who had a successful loan at Chelsea in 2023. If they can agree on a fee for Felix, it could help facilitate Gallagher’s move to Atlético Madrid.
However, if the Felix deal falls through, Gallagher’s transfer might not happen.
Chelsea’s Premier League season starts on Sunday at Stamford Bridge against Manchester City. As Gallagher prepares to return to training, his future at Chelsea remains uncertain, influenced by ongoing transfer activity.
