At the COP29 Summit in Azerbaijan on Wednesday, November 13, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo urged world leaders to move beyond discussions and take tangible steps to address the global climate crisis.

Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, he called for collective action, particularly to protect vulnerable communities severely impacted by climate change.

President Akufo-Addo stressed that words alone are insufficient to tackle the climate crisis and urged leaders to adopt practical, impactful solutions to secure the well-being of both current and future generations.

“We gather here, we must demonstrate that we are not only individuals or policymakers but people bound by the love for our land and environment

“Our children’s future hinges on our decisions, so COP29 must be a shift from dialogue to action,” he stressed.

With COP29 highlighting climate financing, Akufo-Addo called on developed nations to fulfil financial commitments that will help drive the global green transition.
