The Prempeh District Court has adjourned the ongoing murder case involving 21-year-old Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) final-year student, Daniel Tuffuor, to September 15, 2025, as investigations continue into the tragic death of his girlfriend, Joana Deladem Yabani.

Tuffuor was arrested on February 27, 2025, after Joana’s body was discovered on the KNUST campus earlier that morning. University security personnel promptly alerted the Ghana Police Service, leading to the suspect’s swift apprehension.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased and the accused were in a romantic relationship at the time of the incident. CCTV footage reportedly captured a man believed to be Tuffuor strangling Joana following a physical altercation. The footage is currently being reviewed as part of the prosecution’s evidence.

Tuffuor was arraigned before the Prempeh District Court and has since been held in remandcustody. The court has adjourned proceedings to allow for further forensic analysis and legal advice from the Attorney-General’s Department.

Joana Deladem Yabani was laid to rest in March 2025 in her hometown of Ho, Volta Region. Her funeral was attended by family, friends, and members of the university community, many of whom have called for justice and improved campus safety measures.

The Ghana Police Service continues to investigate the case thoroughly, with forensic experts analyzing physical and digital evidence. The Service remains committed to ensuring justice is served and urges the public to refrain from speculation as the legal process unfolds.
