A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the case against 76 individuals charged in connection with the #EndBadGovernance protests.

On Tuesday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu struck out the suit after the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, requested to take over and discontinue the case.

The Attorney General was represented by the Director of Public Prosecution, Mohammed Abubakar, who cited his constitutional authority to do so.

The judge granted the request to discontinue the trial for 119 defendants, with no objections raised by the lawyers for the accused. Although the accused were not present in court, Justice Egwuatu ordered their immediate release from prison.

President Bola Tinubu had previously instructed the Attorney General to drop the charges against the accused, many of whom are minors and cannot legally be tried.
