The Mpraeso Circuit Court, under the leadership of Her Ladyship Adwoa Akyamaah Ofosu, has granted bail to 27 individuals involved in the Abetifi Chieftaincy dispute.

The accused, who had been detained for their alleged involvement in the abduction of the Abetifi Chief, were previously denied bail by the court two weeks ago.

Following a request from their legal representatives, the court agreed to grant them bail, set at GHS200,000 with two sureties and one justification.

The accused are scheduled to return to court on December 19, 2024.

Captain Nkrabeah Effah Darteh, counsel for the accused persons, noted in an interview after the session, “I am so happy that the law is working. I think the judge has been very fair and I commend her. She listened to arguments on both sides and she put the law where it ought to be.

“So I am happy that 27 people, each of them, have been granted court bail and we are coming back on 19th December. The law is at work. That is what we want in this country.”
