An injunction filed by a Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) alumnus against the extension of Vice Chancellor Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson’s term has been dismissed due to lack of merit.

The presiding judge questioned the applicant’s status as an alumnus, as he failed to provide convincing proof of his affiliation when presenting purported university statutes.

The court awarded GH¢9,000 in costs against the applicant.

Following the dismissal, the applicant expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling and filed another suit to overturn the court’s decision.

A standoff occurred when the bailiff attempted to serve the university’s lawyers, who insisted on formal service.

Dr. Noris Bekoe, KNUST’s University Relations Officer, expressed satisfaction with the court’s ruling and suggested that any issues regarding the Vice Chancellor’s term extension be resolved amicably.

Meanwhile, a university staff member has filed another injunction against the Vice Chancellor’s term extension, citing legal concerns.
