A three-member panel of the High Court presided over by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, a Justice of the Court of Appeal is expected to pass their judgement today,January 24, 2024 after the conclusion of evidence
The three-member panel presiding over the high treason case involving ACP Benjamin Agordzo is expected to deliver judgment later today, January 24, 2024, on the fate of the accused persons.
Meanwhile, today’s judgement date was fixed two months ago on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 after the parties had all filed their respective written submissions.
Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, the Chief Executive Officer of Citadel Hospital (now deceased) and ACP Dr. Agordzo together with eight others were charged variously on April 24, 2021 for conspiracy to high treason, abetment to high treason and high treason.

The ten had been arrested earlier in 2019 after a police swoop at the Citadel hospital, associating the accused persons with a plot to destabilize the country. The state presented 13 witnesses, including officers from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
During the trial, the state also presented video evidence of how the accused persons were plotting to destabilize the country, including how they allegedly planned to manufacture ammunition.
However, all the accused persons have pleaded not guilty to the charges and concluded their defenses.The names of the accused persons includes Dr Mac Palm (A1- now Deceased), Donya Kafui alias Ezor (A2), Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu alias Bright Alan Yeboah (A3), Yohannes Zikpi (A4), Warrant Officer Class Two Esther Saan Dekuwine (A6), Cpl Seidu Abubakar (A7), Lance Corporal Ali Solomon (A8) and Cpl Sylvester Akanpewon (A9)
Dr. Mac Palm, at whose hospital the accused were arrested, got his testimony struck out as he passed away last year.
The judgment to be delivered today will determine the fate of the accused, who, per the constitution, may be liable to a death sentence if found guilty.
