The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed serious concerns about the current voter register, claiming it is unsuitable for the upcoming December 7 elections.

Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, has raised alarms about significant errors and irregularities in the register, which he argues make it unfit for electoral use.
He pointed out that the issues are not merely minor mistakes but fundamental flaws that could lead to chaotic and unfair conditions during the election.
Dr. Tanko Computer highlighted specific concerns about inconsistencies in voter transfers.
He noted that while no polling station should have more than 700 voters, some stations in the current register show reported transfers exceeding 1,000 voters.
“There is more to it than what we are thinking. In fact, the register, as we speak now, is completely flawed.
It cannot be used for any purpose whatsoever, because you can have some consequences where the data is completely inaccurate,” Dr. Tanko Computer stated.
In response to these findings, the NDC has formally requested an emergency meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) as of August 27 to address the discrepancies found in the provisional register from the recent exhibition exercise.
The party is urging the EC to take immediate action to correct these issues, warning that failure to do so could undermine the electoral process and lead to disputes over the legitimacy of the election results.
