Recent media reports claiming that Cynthia Mamle Morrison, the Member of Parliament for Agona West, has withdrawn her independent candidacy for the upcoming elections are incorrect, according to a statement from her office.

These reports suggested that Morrison had changed her mind about contesting as an independent candidate and was instead joining the New Patriotic Party.

However, the MP clarified that she remains dedicated to the development of the Agona West constituency and the welfare of its residents.

Cynthia Morrison emphasized that she has not made any announcement retracting her independent candidacy, contrary to the media claims.

“We urge the media and the public to disregard these unfounded assertions and rely solely on official statements and verified sources for accurate information.

Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison remains committed to advocating for the needs and aspirations of the people of Agona West, with a focus on fostering sustainable development and inclusive governance,” the statement said.

Morrison is one of three MPs who have declared their intention to run as independent candidates in the 2024 general election. The others include Kwadwo Asante, the MP for Suhum, and Peter Kwakye-Ackah, the MP for Amenfi Central.

Additionally, Andrew Amoako Assiamah, the MP for Fomena, who previously entered the 8th Parliament as an independent candidate, has announced his intention to contest the 2024 election under the New Patriotic Party banner.
